What’s with the air in here tonight
The boldest tones; just met with silence
Later on, we’ll look back
And I hope to hell that we’ll just have to laugh
Shining bright as I’m blacking out
With the words still flowing out my mouth
Well, it’s alright, I’m on autopilot
Operatin’ like this half the time
Now I don’t want
This comin’
Across to you
All half-hearted
Sometimes the folks
They don’t respond
In any way
You think they oughta
Don’t be surprised
When you don’t get
Just everything
The way you want it
It might seem weird sometimes
The comatose catch every little word there is to hear
I wanna hit this note for note
I wanna give it all ’til I go broke
I don’t want you leaving here
and thinking that you didn’t get all that you could for free
Well, soon enough, as we’re packin’ up
Well, it seems the thoughts that I had were over-thunk
I didn’t drown and I swim well enough
Just to keep my head above the sea

Uncle Bill
02:21
|
|||
Phone call asked me to sit down
Another relative won't be around
Can't bring myself to cry
Cause I don't care
Salesman who ate too much ice cream
Lost vision in a childhood memory
We never were that close
So I don't care
He's not here...
Hey brother, I'm not going either
If you been to one, then you've seen it
And I ain't going through it
Cause I don't care
Call me a sociopathic and uncompassionate
Selfish asshole who doesn't give a shit
Not thinking of my family
I don't care
Honor the dead so honor isn't dead

You say you have good intentions
Well, you wanna sit and talk awhile
See me coming, fake a smile
I'd give an inch but you'll just take a mile
No, I have no expectations
When we cross paths on the street
You try to act so discreet
As your eyes they drop down to your feet
You say you have good intentions
Well, you wanna sit and reconcile
See me coming, fake a smile
I'd give an inch but you'll just take a mile
Yeah, I'd give an inch but you'll just take a mile

Damn You
03:23
|
|||
Hey you, yes you standing over there
It’s not my face upon the sign
Had a vision but I tried too hard
And now I know, there’s more than just music in a guitar
Move the door, find a wall
There’s another one down the hall
Exclude me, confuse me, why you wanna abuse me
In the end it’s all gonna be over anyway
And so I damn you
Why’d you have to walk away
Damn You
When I had much more to say
So you think that I should take the blame
When it’s all your fault
You better check your answering machine
Your caller I.D. can't save you now
Your tiny glass world is under construction
And it's my fifteen minutes that are burning in the flame

Falling Short
03:52
|
|||
Table with some games for kids to share
Plants placed between the chairs
We sit here and wait
Hanging cold, the silence in the air
The walls here are far from bare
With degrees all in frames
And this box contains a thousand pieces
Colorful and amazingly detailed
You think you’ve finished
Still a piece is missing
Your perfect image still incompleted
Falling short - of what you want
Guess I must’ve been about twelve or thirteen
In family therapy, the man says to me
“We’ll send your artwork off to a magazine,
To help you out with your self-esteem
We’ll lie about your age.”
The words you said
They were not a mistake
You brought it back up
When we had to meet again
You crushed my dreams
And you made me to wait
I'm probably too late
Still I register my complaint
Cause I can’t sleep
So I'll just lie here awake
Still haunted by dreams
Full of bad memories
With the insult you dealt me
With the advice that you gave

Forget My Name
04:05
|
|||
Been pacing the floors, can't stand still
Break my heart, I know you will
It's a shame
Forget my name
If you go your way, I'll do the same
Been up all night, lying in bed
Clinging onto every word you said
It's a shame
Forget my name
If you go your way, I'll do the same
Maybe it's hard for me to admit
That we just don't fit
Maybe it's time to rearrange
Maybe it's time for a change
And ah, it's a shame
Forget my name
If you go your way, I'll do the same
Been losing my mind, can't slow down
Every time I see you around
It's a shame
Forget my name
If you go your way, I'll do the same

Wavelengths
03:36
|
|||
Throwing out some wavelengths
Hoping they might find you where you are
Into the collective unconscious mind that we are all apart
Sometimes it’s right, you should get what you want
You’ll have it all in time
But are you so unhappy
It’s nothing that you’ve said but I’m catching on
I’m open to suggestions
On how to help you out when it gets too rough
Sometimes it’s right, you should get what you want
You’ll have it all in time
Some will say it’s decided
But no one did more than I did
To pull this off
The artists and the performers
They gravitate towards each other
To meeting up
So only a matter of time ’til you should pass my way
Listening for wavelengths
Standing on a shore we should be pushing off
Awaiting new perspectives
Or just the sound of your car as you're pulling up
Sometimes it’s right, you should get what you want
You’ll have it all in time

Found Object
03:24
|
|||
Found object from on high was handed down to me
Not everyone could appreciate
Somethings are perfect, sometimes the beauty’s underneath
Sometimes the best things are mistakes
Look at the way the lines create the shape
How it’s arranged, just had to fall that way
Uncontained so that it's bleeding off the page
Yet perfectly placed amongst it’s negative space
Found object, someone must’ve tried to contact me
I can’t make out the words
Garbled garbage spewing forth across and vertically
I’ll never know for sure
Found object, don’t you know you’ve got my sympathy
You’ll never be understood
Some might see you as a mess meant for recycling
But amongst the bad there stands the good

Nye-Quil
04:55
|
|||
The sunshine subsided
My smile won't show
My heart is congested
With memories that have festered awhile
I thought I'd be better off to forget her
It's not true
It'd only take a phone call
Something I can't do
So I finished the Nyquil
And I polished off the Robitussin
And I still feel ill
Hope I don't take this to the grave
You know I will

Used To Be An Artist
03:21
|
|||
Used to be an artist way back in the day
But my ambition slipped away
And I woke up wondering where my muse had gone
Used to be a poor soul in the city of Eugene
Like I’m Odysseus on the sea
And I’m out there trying to find my way back home
I’m almost content
With everything I have and all I get
But there’s a part of me that feels
Like all it’s gonna take is the wrong person just to say
The right thing to me
And I’ll walk
And I’m still holding onto all of my old paints
That never touch the canvas any way that’s inspiring
I’m moving straight back into my old comfort zone
If all I’ve got is all I’m owed
Then this hasn’t played out quite the way I planned

The Tree Song
02:57
|
|||
I like trees
Birds and the bees
You and me
Jeffrey Dahmer
I have a car
Won't get me far
But I got a tank of gas and if we drive it really fast
And we get out of sight of the roaming public eye
Then maybe I'll be lucky when I get you in my backseat
Would you be my steady
Cause I think that we're ready
I've got rubbers in my pocket
And love in my heart for you
Yes, you
Shh...
Sorry that we broke up
Just cause you got knocked up
But it's not my fault
The condoms were so old
You should have done as you were told
And kept your legs shut
